Photography Basics

This course is designed to help you get your camera off the automatic setting. The course explores what all the little icons in your camera menu mean and how you can use them to capture your best photos. Photography Workshop

Know a bit about your camera but still have trouble getting the photos you want? Come join us for this workshop style class which will refresh you on some the basics of photography and get you taking photos each class. We do some learning in the classroom but then grab our cameras and venture out into the world to take photos and practice what we have just discussed. This course is designed for those who have an understanding of the basics of photography but want to get a bit more experience shooting images. We will tackle indoor photos, outdoor photos, portraits, landscapes and discuss future projects that you can do with your photography. If you do not have any experience with your camera at all then it is recommended to take the Photography Basics course first as this course will cover some of the basics but not all and will be a faster pace than the Basics course. This class is meant to give you a refresher on how the camera works and then get you outdoors and creating some art!

 Watercolor  Basics -
This five week fall session will introduce beginners to the way watercolour painting works and how you can be successful in this fascinating and rewarding art form.

By introducing various brushes and brush strokes, you will practice manipulating paint, blooms and blends, soft and hard edges, using wet and dry techniques on wet and dry paper.

Based on the on a "split primary" theory, you will learn about colour temperature by creating your own colour wheel for personal reference. This will help you to avoid "mixing mis-haps" and learn how to successfully create vivid secondaries and subtle tertiary colours using a very simple, limited palette.

As you grow in confidence with this knowledge and these skills. Janet will guide you step-by-step to create pleasing compositions from still life to landscapes and seascapes.
